Born in 1760 as the youngest son of an impoverished French nobleman in Auvergne, Lestat de Lioncourt grew up rebellious, desperate for freedom, and starved for art and theatre. After running away to Paris to work as an actor, his life changed forever when the ancient, half-mad vampire Magnus stalked him, abducted him, and forcefully turned him into the undead before throwing himself into a blazing fire.

Inheriting immense wealth and terrifying dark powers overnight, Lestat refused to abide by the dreary, secretive rules of older vampires. Instead, he chose to live loudly, openly, and passionately—earning him his famous moniker, "The Brat Prince."

1760: Born in Auvergne, France.
1780: Abducted and made a vampire by Magnus in Paris.
1780s: Turns his dying mother Gabrielle, creates Nicolas, and reforms the Théâtre des Vampires.
1791: Turns Louis de Pointe du Lac in New Orleans; later turns the child Claudia.

1. Gabrielle de Lioncourt: His mortal mother. Made to save her from dying of consumption; became his first companion and a fiercely independent wanderer.

3. Louis de Pointe du Lac: His most famous companion. Made in Louisiana in 1791. Their tempestuous, intense bond forms the emotional core of the Chronicles.

4. Claudia: A young orphan girl turned to bind Louis to him forever—a tragic decision that haunted all three of them for centuries.

5. David Morgan: The former Superior General of the Talamasca. Lestat turned him after a series of supernatural body-swapping adventures.
